About this tool
Choose a video and press Process to get its sound as an MP3. ffmpeg in WebAssembly removes the video and encodes the audio with MP3 variable-bitrate quality level 2, which is a high-quality setting of roughly 170 to 210 kbps. It runs in your browser and the video is not uploaded. The audio is re-encoded, so it is lossy relative to the source. There are no options. The first run downloads the ffmpeg engine (about 25 MB) from a CDN, which can take from a few seconds to a minute on a slow connection; later runs on the same page reuse it.
How to use it
- Drop a video or choose a file.
- Press Process.
- Wait for the progress bar to finish.
- Play the preview and press Download (output.mp3).
Common problems
- The MP3 has no sound or processing fails
- The video probably has no audio track. Confirm it plays with sound.
- Very long videos fail
- The whole file is loaded into browser memory. Trim to the part you need first with the Video Trimmer.
- Nothing happens for a while on the first run
- The ffmpeg engine (about 25 MB) is downloading. Wait for the progress bar; later runs reuse it.
