Image Compressor
Compress an Image
Runs in your browser Your input never leaves your device.
About this tool
Shrink an image's file size by re-saving it as a JPEG at a quality you choose. Pick a file, set the quality slider (0.1 to 1, default 0.85) and download the result. The image is processed in your browser using a canvas, so it never leaves your device. The pixel dimensions stay the same; only the compression changes. The output is always a JPEG, whatever the input format, and any metadata such as EXIF is dropped by the re-encode.
How to use it
- Choose an image file.
- Adjust the quality slider; lower values give smaller files with more visible artifacts.
- Check the size shown under the preview.
- Press Download.
Common problems
- Transparent areas turn white
- JPEG has no transparency, so transparent areas are filled with white in the output. Use a different tool (for example PNG to WebP) if you need to keep transparency.
- File did not get smaller
- Already well-compressed JPEGs or small images may not shrink much, and a high quality setting can even make the file larger. Lower the quality.
- Image looks blurry or blocky
- Quality is too low. Raise the slider until it looks acceptable.
