About this tool
Photos often carry hidden EXIF data such as the camera model, date and sometimes GPS coordinates. Choose a JPG and the tool redraws it onto a canvas in your browser and saves a new JPEG; since only the pixels are re-encoded, the metadata is not carried over. A Quality slider (0.1 to 1, default 0.85) sets the new compression. The result downloads as metadata-exif-remover.jpg and your original file is not changed or uploaded. Because it is re-compressed, quality drops slightly and file size can change. Transparent areas are filled with white, and color profile information is also dropped, so colors can shift a little.
How to use it
- Drop a JPG or choose a file.
- Leave Quality at 0.85 or raise it to keep more detail.
- Check the preview and size.
- Press Download and share the cleaned copy.
Common problems
- Only JPG files can be chosen
- The picker accepts JPEG files only. Other formats are not handled by this tool.
- The file looks slightly different
- The image is re-compressed. Increase Quality toward 1 to reduce visible loss.
- You want proof that the data is gone
- Check the downloaded file in your system's file properties or an EXIF viewer to confirm.
