About this tool
Paste messy text and pick the cleanup steps you want. Trim lines removes spaces at the start and end of each line. Remove empty lines deletes blank lines. Collapse spaces turns runs of spaces or tabs into a single space. Strip HTML removes anything that looks like a tag, and Lowercase converts all text to lowercase. The first three are on by default. Steps run in a fixed order: strip HTML, collapse spaces, trim, remove empty lines, lowercase, then the whole result is trimmed. HTML stripping is a simple tag remover, not an HTML parser. Everything runs in your browser.
How to use it
- Paste your text.
- Tick the cleanup options you want.
- Read the cleaned text in the output.
- Press Copy to use it.

Common problems
- Text disappears when Strip HTML is on
- A stray < in normal text, like in a math expression, is treated as the start of a tag and removes text up to the next > or the end of the input. Leave Strip HTML off for such text.
- Paragraph breaks are lost
- Remove empty lines deletes the blank lines between paragraphs. Untick it to keep them.
- Indentation disappeared
- Trim lines removes leading spaces. Untick it if indentation matters.
