About this tool
See your public IP address together with an approximate city and country. The lookup runs when the page loads: our server reads the address your request came from and asks a third-party IP geolocation service (ipwhois.app) for the location. You can also type any IP address to look it up. The location comes from IP databases, so it often points to your internet provider's area rather than your home, and a VPN or proxy shows that service's address instead of yours.
How to use it
- Open the page; your address is shown automatically.
- Or type an IP address and press Look up.
- Press Enter in the box as a shortcut.
Common problems
- Wrong city shown
- IP location is approximate and based on provider databases. It is normal for it to be off by a city or more.
- Address is not yours
- If you use a VPN, proxy, or work network, the address shown belongs to that service or network.
- Lookup failed message
- The geolocation service may be rate limiting or unavailable. Try again in a moment, and check the address contains only digits, dots, colons and hex letters.
