DNS Propagation Check

Compare how two major public resolvers answer for a DNS record.

Looks up live data What you enter is sent to our server to fetch live results from public sources. Results are cached briefly.

About this tool

After you change a DNS record, different resolvers can keep returning the old value until their caches expire. This tool asks two public resolvers, Cloudflare (1.1.1.1) and Google (8.8.8.8), for the record type you choose (A, AAAA, MX, TXT, NS or CNAME) and shows each answer side by side, with a flag saying whether they match. Only these two resolvers are queried, not a worldwide set of servers, so treat it as a quick sanity check rather than full global coverage. Results are never cached.

How to use it

  1. Enter the domain name.
  2. Pick the record type you changed.
  3. Press Check propagation.
  4. Compare the two answers; repeat after a few minutes if they differ.

Common problems

The resolvers disagree
One still holds the old record in cache. It should update when the old TTL expires.
Both show the old value
Check that the change was saved at your DNS host and that you edited the right record type and name.
One resolver shows an error
It may have timed out. The other resolver's answer can still be used; run the check again.
