Video to WebP Converter

Convert a short video clip into an animated WebP image in your browser.

About this tool

Choose a short video and press Process to produce an animated WebP using ffmpeg in WebAssembly. It runs in your browser and nothing is uploaded. An FPS field is shown, but the current code does not apply it to the command, so output uses ffmpeg's defaults and the full source frame rate and size. Whether the result is produced depends on the in-browser ffmpeg build including a WebP encoder. Keep clips short, because animated images get large quickly. The first run downloads the ffmpeg engine (about 25 MB) from a CDN, which can take from a few seconds to a minute on a slow connection; later runs on the same page reuse it.

How to use it

  1. Drop a short video or choose a file.
  2. Press Process (the FPS box currently has no effect).
  3. Wait for the progress bar.
  4. Preview and press Download (output.webp).

Common problems

Processing fails with an encoder error
The in-browser build may lack WebP animation support. Try the Video to APNG tool instead.
The FPS setting does nothing
Known limitation. Trim the clip or use a source with the frame rate you want.
The file is very large
Trim to a few seconds first with the Video Trimmer.
