About this tool
Choose a video and select one of five operations: rotate 90 degrees clockwise, 90 degrees counterclockwise, 180 degrees, flip horizontally or flip vertically. ffmpeg in WebAssembly applies it and re-encodes the video to MP4, so it runs in your browser and nothing is uploaded. Rotating changes the pixels, so the video is re-encoded and slightly lossy, and a 90-degree turn swaps width and height. No arbitrary angles are available. The first run downloads the ffmpeg engine (about 25 MB) from a CDN, which can take from a few seconds to a minute on a slow connection; later runs on the same page reuse it.
How to use it
- Drop a video or choose a file.
- Pick Rotate / flip: 90 degrees CW, 90 degrees CCW, 180 degrees, Flip H or Flip V.
- Press Process and wait for the progress bar.
- Preview and press Download (output.mp4).
Common problems
- The video is sideways but looks right in my player
- Some phone videos store a rotation flag. Preview the result and try another option if the output looks wrong.
- Wrong direction
- Flip H mirrors left to right; CW and CCW are clockwise and counterclockwise turns. Pick the opposite option and run again.
- It is slow, or the tab freezes or runs out of memory
- ffmpeg runs in a single browser thread on your device. Use a shorter or smaller file and close other heavy tabs.
