Text to Slug
Turn text into a lowercase, hyphenated URL slug.

About this tool
A slug is the readable part of a URL, like my-first-post. The tool lowercases your text, strips accents (Café becomes cafe), and replaces every run of characters that is not a letter A to Z or a digit with a single hyphen, so underscores and punctuation become hyphens too. Hyphens at the start and end are removed. It works as you type. The cleanup is ASCII-focused: non-Latin letters such as Greek or Japanese are dropped, not transliterated. Everything runs in your browser.
How to use it
- Type or paste your title.
- Read the slug in the output.
- Remove any leading or trailing hyphen by trimming the input.
- Press Copy and use it in your URL.
Example
Spaces collapse into single hyphens and punctuation is removed.
Hello World 2026!
hello-world-2026
Common problems
- Non-Latin letters disappear
- Accented Latin letters are converted (Café becomes cafe), but characters from other scripts such as Greek or Cyrillic are dropped. Transliterate them first if you need them in the slug.
- Slug is shorter than expected
- Anything that is not a letter or digit acts as a separator and is replaced by a single hyphen, so symbols never appear in the result.
