Screen Recorder

Record your screen, a window or a browser tab and save it as a WebM video.

Runs in your browser Your input never leaves your device.

About this tool

Press Start recording and your browser asks what to share: the whole screen, a window or a browser tab. The tool records it with the browser's built-in MediaRecorder and, when you stop, gives you a WebM video to preview and download as recording.webm. It does not use ffmpeg and nothing is uploaded; the video stays in your browser's memory until you save it. It records the screen only, not your webcam or microphone. The checkbox reads Capture tab/system audio (if the browser offers it); it asks the browser for the shared tab or system sound, which depends on the browser and what you choose to share. It needs a desktop browser that supports screen capture and WebM recording, such as Chrome, Edge or Firefox.

How to use it

  1. Leave Capture tab/system audio checked or uncheck it.
  2. Press Start recording and pick a screen, window or tab in the browser prompt.
  3. Press Stop, or end sharing from the browser bar, when you are done.
  4. Preview the video and press Download.

Common problems

It says screen capture is not supported
Use a recent desktop version of Chrome, Edge or Firefox. Most mobile browsers cannot capture the screen.
The recording has no sound
Sharing a Chrome tab or a screen with 'share audio' ticked is needed for tab or system sound. The tool never records your microphone.
Recording fails to start on Safari
The tool requests WebM, which Safari may not support. Try Chrome, Edge or Firefox.
I closed the page and lost the video
Recordings are held in memory only. Download before leaving the page.
