About this tool
Check whether an IPv4 address is listed on well-known DNS blacklists: SpamCop, Barracuda, DroneBL, PSBL and UCEPROTECT level 1. A listing usually means the address has been seen sending spam or running compromised software, and it can cause email from that IP to be rejected. Lookups are made over DNS-over-HTTPS. Some blacklists refuse queries from public resolvers; those, and any list that does not answer, are reported as unavailable rather than clean. Spamhaus is not queried because it refuses public resolvers, so a clean result does not cover Spamhaus; check it on spamhaus.org. SORBS and CBL were dropped (shut down or merged into Spamhaus).
How to use it
- Enter the IPv4 address, such as the one your mail server sends from.
- Press Check blacklists.
- Review how many lists include the address and which ones.
- If it is listed, follow the delisting steps on that list's website.
Common problems
- A list shows "resolver-blocked (inconclusive)"
- That list does not answer queries from public resolvers. The result is unknown, not clean; check it directly on the list's website.
- Your IP is listed
- Find and fix the cause first (compromised account, open relay, shared hosting neighbour), then request removal from the list.
- IPv6 address
- Only IPv4 addresses are supported.
Frequently asked questions
Does being listed always mean my mail will be blocked?
No, but receivers that use that list may reject or flag mail. Impact depends on the list and the receiver.
