About this tool

Choose a WebP image and it is decoded and saved as a PNG in your browser, ready to download as webp-to-png.png. Transparency is preserved. PNG is lossless, but if the WebP was already compressed with loss, converting it to PNG does not restore the lost detail. PNG files are normally much larger than WebP, so expect the file size to grow. There are no quality settings. The preview shows the pixel size and size in KB. Your file is never uploaded. Use this when software or a website does not accept WebP.

How to use it

  4. Press Download to save the PNG.

Common problems

The PNG is much larger than the WebP
This is normal. PNG stores pixels without lossy compression.
Animated WebP becomes a still image
Only a single frame is drawn, so animation is lost.
The file is rejected
Only WebP files can be chosen. If your browser cannot decode WebP, try a recent browser version.
