About this tool
Converts a .tif or .tiff file into a JPEG that email, social sites and most apps accept. TIFF is a large, often uncompressed format used by scanners and cameras. The file is decoded in your browser with the UTIF library, only the first page or image in the file is used, and it is saved as a JPEG at a fixed quality of 0.9 as image.jpg. Because JPEG has no transparency, transparent areas are filled with white. Multi-page TIFFs (such as scanned documents) are converted only to the first page. Uncommon TIFF encodings may not decode and show an error. Nothing is uploaded. JPEG-compressed TIFFs (as written by some scanners and by Pillow) are supported, with correct colours. The page also tells you when a TIFF had more than one page and only the first was converted.
How to use it
- Drop a .tif or .tiff file or choose one.
- Wait while it decodes.
- Check the preview and size.
- Press Download.
Common problems
- Only the first page is saved
- Multi-page TIFFs are not split. Only page 1 is converted.
- Could not decode this TIFF
- Some compression types or color modes are unsupported. Re-save the file as a standard TIFF from an image editor.
- Transparent areas turn white
- JPEG cannot store transparency, so those areas are filled with white. Use TIFF to PNG to keep the transparency.
