Temperature Converter
Convert between Celsius, Fahrenheit, Kelvin and Rankine.

About this tool
Type a temperature, choose the scale you have and the scale you want, and the answer updates as you type. Four scales are supported: Celsius, Fahrenheit, Kelvin and Rankine. Unlike lengths or weights, temperature scales have different zero points, so each value is converted through Celsius with the usual formulas rather than a single multiplier. Results show up to 8 decimal places. A value below absolute zero (-273.15 °C, 0 K, -459.67 °F, 0 °R) is physically impossible, so the tool shows a message instead of a number. Swap flips the scales and Copy copies the result. Everything runs in your browser.
How to use it
- Enter the temperature.
- Choose the From and To scales.
- Read the result.
- Use Swap to reverse the direction.
Example
100 Celsius to Fahrenheit
212 °F
Common problems
- It says Below absolute zero
- The temperature you typed is colder than anything can be (below 0 K). Check the scale you chose: -300 is impossible in Celsius but -300 °F is valid, because Fahrenheit goes down to -459.67.
- Result is a long decimal
- Conversions between scales often are not round numbers. Round the shown value as you need.
- The result shows a dash
- The input is empty or not a number.
