About this tool
Convert force between newton (N), kilonewton (kN), dyne (dyn), kilogram-force (kgf), pound-force (lbf) and poundal (pdl). The base unit is the newton. Pound-force is common in US engineering, kilogram-force appears in older gauge and spec sheets, dynes are used in CGS physics, and the poundal is an old absolute imperial unit. Pound-force and kilogram-force are units of force, not mass: 1 kgf is 9.80665 N and 1 lbf is about 4.44822 N, based on standard gravity. The result is labeled with the unit symbol and shows up to 8 decimals, with scientific notation for extreme values.
