About this tool
Convert capacitor values between farad (F), millifarad (mF), microfarad (µF), nanofarad (nF) and picofarad (pF). These are the unit sizes you see on electronics parts: electrolytic capacitors are marked in µF, small ceramics in nF or pF, and supercapacitors in farads. Each step is a factor of 1,000 and everything is converted through farads. The result is labeled with the unit symbol and shows up to 8 decimals. Very small numbers switch to scientific notation, for example 1.000000e-9. There is no kilofarad or femtofarad option. Part markings such as 104 or 472 are three-digit codes and are not decoded here.
How to use it
- Type the value to convert.
- Choose the From and To units.
- Read the result, which updates as you type.
- Use Swap to reverse the units or Copy to copy the result.
Example
4700 nanofarad to microfarad
4.7 µF
Common problems
- The result appears as 1e-12 or similar
- Values below 0.000001 appear in scientific notation. Pick a smaller target unit like pF to see a plain number.
- Confusing µ, m and n
- 1 mF is 1,000 µF, and 1 µF is 1,000 nF. Check the prefix on your part carefully.
- Reading a capacitor code like 104
- The tool converts values, not codes. 104 means 10 followed by 4 zeros pF, which is 100,000 pF or 100 nF.
