About this tool

Convert pressure between pascal (Pa), kilopascal (kPa), bar, PSI, atmosphere (atm) and torr (mmHg). Tire pressure is often given in PSI or bar, weather in kilopascals or hectopascals, vacuum work in torr, and gas cylinders in bar. Conversions go through pascals using 100,000 Pa per bar, 6,894.76 Pa per PSI, 101,325 Pa per atmosphere and 133.322 Pa per torr. The result is labeled with the symbol in parentheses in the menu, so PSI results read lb/in² and torr results read mmHg. These are absolute unit conversions, so they do not distinguish gauge pressure (relative to the air) from absolute pressure. There is no millibar, hPa or inHg option.

How to use it

  1. Type the value to convert.
  2. Choose the From and To units.
  3. Read the result, which updates as you type.
  4. Use Swap to reverse the units or Copy to copy the result.

Example

A typical car tire pressure.

Input
32 psi to bar
Result
2.2063232 Bar

Common problems

Gauge vs absolute pressure
A tire gauge shows pressure above atmospheric. Conversions do not add or subtract the 1 atm offset.
hPa, mbar or inHg are missing
Hectopascals equal millibars. Multiply by 100 and use pascal, or by 0.1 and use kilopascal.
Rounded PSI factor
PSI uses 6,894.76 Pa, rounded from 6,894.757, so results are accurate to about six digits.
