About this tool
Converts a JPG or JPEG image to PNG in your browser. PNG is lossless and supports transparency, so it is a good format for further editing, screenshots and graphics. Converting a JPG does not restore detail already lost in JPEG compression, and it does not create transparency, so the PNG looks the same as the JPG but the file is usually several times bigger. It is most helpful when a site or tool asks for PNG, or when you plan to edit the image repeatedly without further loss. The output keeps the original pixel size and downloads as jpg-to-png.png.
How to use it
- Drop a JPG or choose a file.
- Wait for the preview.
- Check the dimensions and size.
- Press Download.
Common problems
- File grew a lot
- This is normal: PNG stores every pixel without lossy compression.
- Background is not transparent
- JPG has no transparency; use an editor with background removal if you need it.
- Visible blocky artifacts remain
- They are in the source JPEG and cannot be removed by changing format.
