About this tool
Make an image larger by 2x, 3x or 4x. Despite the broader idea of upscaling, this tool does not use AI or download any model: it resizes the image with your browser's high-quality smoothing, so the result is bigger but not sharper. Edges look smoother than simple pixel doubling, yet no new detail is created. It is useful for fitting a small image into a larger space, or as a cleaner starting point for later editing. The result is saved as a PNG named image-upscaler.png and the work happens in your browser. Dimensions and file size are shown.
How to use it
- Drop an image or choose a file.
- Choose 2x, 3x or 4x.
- Check the new dimensions and preview.
- Press Download.
Common problems
- Result still looks soft
- Smoothing cannot recover detail that is not in the original. Start from the largest source you have.
- Browser slows down or fails
- A 4x scale of a large photo can exceed canvas size or memory limits. Use a lower factor or a smaller source.
- PNG is very large
- Enlarged lossless PNGs get big quickly. Convert to JPG or WebP if you only need a smaller file.
