About this tool
Choose a start time and an end time to see the duration between them in hours, minutes and seconds, plus the total in minutes and in seconds. If the end time is earlier than the start time, the tool assumes the span crosses midnight and adds 24 hours, which suits night shifts and overnight travel. If both times are the same, the result is zero rather than 24 hours. It works with clock times only and does not use dates, so it cannot handle spans longer than a day or time zone changes. Common problems
- Identical times show 0, not 24 hours
- Equal start and end times give zero. Change one time by a minute if you meant a full day.
- The result is wrong across a daylight saving change
- Only clock times are used, with no dates or time zones, so DST shifts are not accounted for.
- Duration over 24 hours
- Not supported. Each result is always less than 24 hours.
