HTML Entity Decode
Decode HTML entities (numeric and the common named ones) back into plain characters.
Runs in your browser Your input never leaves your device.
About this tool
Turns HTML entities back into the characters they stand for. It uses your browser's own HTML parser, so it decodes numeric entities such as © and 😀 (including emoji above U+FFFF) and every named entity the browser knows, such as &, <, © and é. Angle brackets in your input are kept as literal text, and the text is parsed in a detached document, so no HTML is rendered and no script runs. Decoding is a single pass. Everything happens in your browser.
How to use it
- Paste text containing entities.
- Read the decoded text in the output.
- Copy the result.
Example
<p>Tom & Jerry © é 😀
<p>Tom & Jerry © é 😀
Common problems
- Double-encoded input like &lt;
- One pass is done, so &lt; becomes <. Run it again to decode the next layer.
- A non-breaking space looks like a normal space
- becomes a no-break space character (U+00A0), which looks the same but is a different character.
- Entities without a semicolon
- Follow the browser's rules: only a few legacy names such as & or © work without a semicolon. Add the semicolon to be safe.
