About this tool

Type one course per line as a letter grade followed by credits, like A, 3. The calculator converts each grade to grade points, multiplies by the credits, adds everything up and divides by total credits. The scale is the standard 4.0 unweighted scale: A+ and A are 4.0, A- 3.7, B+ 3.3, B 3.0, B- 2.7, C+ 2.3, C 2.0, C- 1.7, D+ 1.3, D 1.0, D- 0.7 and F 0. The result is shown to two decimals, along with the points for each line. Lines with unknown grades or no credits are skipped and flagged. Your school may use a different scale, so treat the result as an estimate.

How to use it

1. Enter one course per line: grade, credits.
2. Use letter grades from A+ to F.
3. Read the per-course points and the final GPA below.

Example

29.2 grade points divided by 9 credits.

A, 3
B+, 4
C, 2

A × 3 cr → 12.0
B+ × 4 cr → 13.2
C × 2 cr → 4.0

Total credits: 9
GPA: 3.24

Common problems

A line shows 'skipped'

The grade must be one of the letters listed and the credits must be a number above zero. Pass/fail grades such as P are not supported.

My school gives 4.3 for A+ or uses weighted GPA

This tool caps A+ at 4.0 and has no honors or AP weighting.

Credits with decimals

Decimals such as 1.5 are accepted. Separate grade and credits with a comma or a space.
