About this tool
Choose a .docx file and the tool extracts its text with the mammoth library and lays it out as a new A4 PDF in your browser, in 11 point type with 40 point margins, adding pages as needed. It is a plain-text conversion: headings, bold, fonts, colors, tables, images and headers do not carry over. The PDF uses a built-in Latin font, so only Western European (Latin-1) characters can be drawn. Common quotes, dashes and the euro sign are converted to plain equivalents; any other character, such as Greek, Cyrillic, Chinese, Japanese, Arabic or emoji, is replaced with a question mark, and the page shows a warning listing the affected characters. For documents in those scripts use Word's own Save as PDF or the Word to Image tool. Your document is not uploaded. Only .docx files are supported, not older .doc files, and corrupt, empty or wrong-type files give a clear error.
How to use it
- Drop a .docx file or choose it.
- Wait for the conversion message to disappear.
- Press the download button to save converted.pdf.
- Check the PDF text before sharing.
Common problems
- The PDF has no formatting or pictures
- Only text is converted. For a PDF that matches the original design, use Save as PDF in Word.
- I see question marks instead of letters
- The PDF font cannot draw characters outside Western European Latin-1 (Greek, Cyrillic, CJK, Arabic, emoji and similar). A warning lists them. Use Save as PDF in Word, or Word to Image, for those documents.
- An old .doc file is rejected or fails
- Only .docx is supported. Open the file in Word and save it as .docx first.
