About this tool
Choose a PDF and the tool reads its text using PDF.js in your browser, then offers a download named converted.doc. Only the text is extracted: each page becomes a paragraph in the document, and layout, columns, images, tables and fonts are not preserved. The file is a simple HTML-based .doc that Microsoft Word and other word processors can open, not a native .docx. Scanned PDFs that contain only images have no text to extract, so the result will be empty. Your PDF is never uploaded. This works best for text-heavy documents when you just need to reuse the wording.
How to use it
- Drop a PDF or choose a file.
- Wait for the progress bar to finish.
- Press the download button to save converted.doc.
- Open it in Word and edit the text.
Common problems
- The result is empty or has little text
- The PDF is probably a scan made of images. It needs OCR, which this tool does not do.
- The layout is gone
- Only text is extracted, in reading order. Columns, tables and images are not rebuilt.
- Word shows a compatibility or format warning
- The file is a .doc created from simple HTML. Save it as .docx from Word if you need that format.
