URL Parser
Split a URL into protocol, host, port, path, query parameters and fragment.
Runs in your browser Your input never leaves your device.
About this tool
Paste a URL and the tool splits it into its parts: protocol, host, port, path, the raw query string, each query parameter as a key and value pair, and the fragment after the hash. If you leave out the scheme, https:// is assumed. Parameter values are shown decoded. The port reads (default) when none is written, including when you type the standard port for the scheme. The tool uses your browser's built-in URL parser and does not report username or password parts. Nothing is sent to a server.
How to use it
- Paste or type the URL.
- Read the parts in the output.
- Check each query parameter in the Params list.
- Copy the part you need.
Example
https://example.com:8080/a/b?x=1&y=two#top
Protocol: https
Host: example.com
Port: 8080
Path: /a/b
Query: ?x=1&y=two
Params:
x = 1
y = two
Fragment: topCommon problems
- Invalid URL message
- Check for spaces or a missing host.
- A mailto: or tel: address looks odd
- Such addresses are parsed as they are (protocol mailto, the address shown as the path), not as a web host.
- Port shows (default)
- No explicit non-default port was found; https uses 443 and http uses 80.
- Encoded characters look different
- Parameter values are shown decoded, but the Query line keeps the original encoding.
