About this tool
Enter a page address and our server fetches its HTML, strips scripts, styles and tags, and counts the words in what is left. You get the total word count and the 30 most frequent single words with their count and share. Words of one or two letters and common English stop words such as the, and or for are skipped, and percentages are relative to the remaining words. It counts words only, not phrases, and only Latin letters and digits, so non-Latin text is not counted. Pages are read as plain HTML, so content added by JavaScript is not included, and menus and footers are counted too.
How to use it
- Enter the page address.
- Press Analyze.
- Review the top words and the total word count.
- Compare them with the terms you want the page to target.
Common problems
- Words from my page are missing
- Content loaded by JavaScript is not in the HTML our server receives.
- Navigation and footer text skew the result
- The whole page text is counted, not only the main content.
- Non-English page shows few words
- Only a-z and 0-9 words are counted, and the stop-word list is English.
