JSON to YAML
Convert JSON to YAML in your browser.
Runs in your browser Your input never leaves your device.
About this tool
Paste JSON and the YAML equivalent appears as you type. Objects become indented key: value pairs, arrays become dash lists, and strings, numbers, booleans and null keep their types. The conversion uses the js-yaml library and runs in your browser, so your data is not uploaded. If the input is not valid JSON, the output shows a warning with the parser's message so you can find the problem. Comments are not part of JSON, so none appear in the result. This is handy for turning API responses or config files into YAML for tools such as Kubernetes or CI pipelines.
How to use it
- Paste valid JSON into the input box.
- Read the YAML in the output box.
- Fix any warning shown if the JSON is invalid.
- Press Copy to use the YAML.
Example
{"name":"web","ports":[80,443],"debug":false}name: web ports: - 80 - 443 debug: false
Common problems
- A warning shows instead of YAML
- The JSON is invalid. Common causes are trailing commas, single quotes and unquoted keys.
- Strings that look like numbers or booleans
- The converter quotes them when needed so they keep their type, which can look surprising.
- Large files feel slow
- Everything runs on your device, so very large inputs depend on your browser.
