Countdown Timer
Count down in seconds, minutes and hours.
Runs in your browser Your input never leaves your device.
At zero the timer beeps and, if you allow it, shows a notification. The remaining time follows the clock, so it stays accurate in background tabs.
About this tool
Set hours, minutes and seconds (default 5 minutes), optionally add a label, and press Start to count down to zero. The display shows HH:MM:SS and the remaining time is also shown in the browser tab title. Pause stops the clock where it is, and Start resumes from that point. Reset clears the timer. When it reaches zero the display turns red, a short beep plays, and, if you allowed notifications when you pressed Start, a notification appears so you notice it in another tab. The time is worked out from the clock rather than by counting ticks, so it stays accurate even if the browser slows the tab in the background (the display may update less often there). Decimals are rounded down and negative values count as zero. Everything runs in your browser.
How to use it
- Enter hours, minutes and seconds, and an optional label.
- Press Start (allow notifications if you want an alert in another tab).
- Use Pause to hold it and Start to continue.
- Press Reset to clear it and start over.
Common problems
- Nothing happens on Start
- All three fields are zero or empty. Enter a time above zero.
- I did not hear the beep
- Your device may be muted or the browser blocked audio for the tab. Allow notifications as well and watch the tab title, which changes to Time is up!
- Changing the numbers does not change a running timer
- Edits apply only to a fresh start. Press Reset, then Start.
