Binary to Text
Convert Binary to Text

About this tool
Converts binary back into text. Paste groups of 0s and 1s separated by spaces, with each group of up to 8 bits standing for one byte, or one unspaced string whose length is a multiple of 8. The bytes are decoded as UTF-8, so the output of Text to Binary round-trips exactly, including accented letters, euro signs and emoji. If something is not binary, for example another character or a group longer than 8 digits, or the bytes are not valid UTF-8, the tool shows an error message instead of guessing. Conversion happens in your browser as you type.
How to use it
- Paste your binary, such as 01001000 01101001 (or 0100100001101001).
- Read the decoded text in the output, or the error message if the input is not valid.
- Copy the result.
Example
01001000 01101001
Hi
Common problems
- The tool shows an error
- The input contains something other than 0 and 1 and spaces, a group is longer than 8 digits, or the bytes do not form valid UTF-8. The message names the first bad group.
- I pasted one long string of bits
- It must be a multiple of 8 digits long; it is split into bytes automatically. Otherwise add a space after every 8 digits.
- Accented letters come out wrong
- They need all of their UTF-8 bytes (two or more groups). Make sure none were lost when copying.
