ROT13 Encoder
Encode text with ROT13 (a fixed 13-letter shift).
Runs in your browser Your input never leaves your device.
About this tool
Encodes text with ROT13, a classic substitution that replaces each letter with the one 13 places further in the alphabet (A becomes N, b becomes o). Case is preserved. Digits, punctuation, spaces and non-English letters are left untouched. Since the English alphabet has 26 letters, running the result through the tool again gives back the original text. ROT13 is a way to hide spoilers or puzzle answers from a casual glance, not a form of security, because anyone can reverse it in seconds. The tool uses a fixed shift of 13; other ROT values are not offered. It runs in your browser.
How to use it
- Type or paste your text.
- Copy the ROT13 output.
- Run the output through the tool again to check that it returns your original.
Example
Hello, World!
Uryyb, Jbeyq!
Common problems
- Expected a different shift
- Only a shift of 13 is supported. It is not possible to choose another rotation.
- Accented letters or digits did not change
- Only A-Z and a-z are rotated.
- Using it for secrecy
- ROT13 gives no protection. Use proper encryption for anything private.
